As the eldest of six children, Daniel’s parents did not have a lot of time, money, or resources to provide for the family's needs. In his home country, Daniel's parents were told by a community member of a program that could help provide Daniel education and a trade to help him find work. Daniel's parents desperately wanted him to have a better opportunity in life. Daniel's parents entrusted him to the community member and sent him on a journey to the program. The community member took Daniel to an undisclosed remote area and transported him into another country. In the new location, Daniel was forced to work in fields harvesting produce. Months later, there was a local raid by the police task force. During the raid, Daniel and 209 other youngsters were rescued from labor trafficking at the farm. Since his rescue, Daniel has begun to go to school, reconnected by phone with his family in his home country. He is receiving counseling and lots of love from his foster family. He is unable to reunify with his family at the moment due to his status and complications with his health. However, Daniel is in good spirits and says he wishes to become a teacher someday so he can teach children in his home country.
